Our Community Profile
Known as the potato capital of the west, we are located along highway 36 and are part of the municipal district of Taber. The abundance of irrigation land, as well as oil and gas resources, have played a vital role in our community’s economic success.

We are conveniently located 35 km’s north of Taber and 89 km’s from the nearest major centre, Lethbridge. Roughly 1,200 residents are able to enjoy our three parks, regulation tennis courts, public library, outdoor swimming pool, the Royal Canadian Legion, and locally owned small businesses.

Our town is served by the local fire department, RCMP detachment, medical clinic, 3 schools (elementary, high school, and the horizon MAP school), and the weekly Vauxhall Advance Newspaper.

Summer visitors in need of a place to stay can find the popular Lion’s campground located only one kilometer outside of the town site. The campground offers full amenities to its 30 sites, offers camping for groups, and sites border a large open field.

Many of our recreational activities are strongly connected to sports as we are the proud home to the successful Vauxhall Academy of Baseball.
Baseball is not the only sport we have to offer as our local arena is home base to successful minor hockey programs and curling leagues. Additionally, a short five minute drive will take visitors to our nine hole, 3523 yard golf course, which hosts several tournaments throughout the season. Those with the desire to enjoy fishing can drive to any one of the 18 lakes in the area between Taber and Medicine Hat.

As a community focused on growth and improvement, plans have been made to being construction on an all new larger library building, and perform needed renovations to the pool.

We host an annual unique and immensely popular Canada Day celebration, attracting visitors from all parts of southern Alberta. The event generally features a list of fun activities including: pancake breakfast, kid’s booths, various BBQ’s, a parade, an afternoon demolition derby, a baseball game, and evening fireworks. The celebration has attracted over 2,000 several times over the years.
